Digital Precision
How Invisalign® Treatment Works
Invisalign® treatment uses a series of clear aligners that move teeth by applying pressure over time. Each tray is worn for a period of time, then patients move to the next set.
Treatment starts with a digital scan using an iTero™ scanner, creating a precise 3D model of the teeth, and allowing patients to see a simulation of their projected results.
From there, aligners are manufactured based on a custom treatment plan created for each patient. Aligner sets are worn for 1-2 weeks (exact timing varies by case), then patients move to the next set.
The total treatment time and number of aligners hinges on the complexity of the case; Dr. Hagan will provide guidance for each patient.

Benefits of Invisalign® Treatment
Aesthetics
Low-visibility look in day-to-day conversations and photos. Ideal for patients who want great results with a discreet look during treatment.
Technology
The digital iTero™ scanner means patients get a cutting-edge treatment plan built for them, with precision trays built to match that plan.
Hygiene
Because the aligners are removable, patients can take them out to eat, and can brush and floss normally without having to work around brackets or wires.
Comfort
Invisalign® clear aligners are made from SmartTrack® material, meaning they’re smooth, BPA-free, and fit snugly over teeth.
What to Expect During Treatment
Consultation
We start with an orthodontic exam and a conversation about goals. Dr. Hagan will discuss whether Invisalign® treatment is the right fit for the patient’s case and what results to expect.
Scanning
We’ll take imaging and X-rays, as well as iTero™ scanning that shows a digital simulation of the patient’s potential results. This imaging is used to create a custom treatment plan for each patient.
Fitting Aligners
Once the custom aligners arrive, patients come in and learn how to insert, remove, and care for them. If required by the case, attachments may be placed to assist with tooth movement.
Daily Wear
Aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours per day, and are only removed for brushing, eating and drinking anything other than water. Each set is worn for the prescribed period before moving on.
Check-Ins
Patients come in on a regular cadence – usually every 6-8 weeks – to confirm tracking and make adjustments. Some cases run straight through the original set of aligners. Some need a refinement phase with a new scan and extra aligners.
Retention
Once treatment is finished, patients begin retention. Retainers are required to keep teeth from shifting.

Caring For Clear Aligners
Rinse and clean aligners daily with a soft toothbrush, clear liquid soap, and warm or cool water. Avoid hot water.
Use the case to stow aligners when not in use; this greatly reduces the the chances they are lost or damaged.
