Education and Training
A Foundation of Academic Excellence
Dr. Hagan attended the University of Kentucky and completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2007.
He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013.
While at the Medical University of South Carolina, he was elected Student Body President for the 2012–2013 term, and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a national dental honor society recognizing academic performance and leadership.
After dental school, Dr. Hagan completed a residency training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in 2015.
ABO Board-Certification
Dr. Hagan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), meaning he is board-certified.
Board certification is optional in orthodontics, and not pursued by every orthodontist. It involves additional exams and a review process that evaluates diagnosis, treatment planning, and finished cases against a national standard. Dr. Hagan maintains this status by satisfying specific clinical standards and continuing education requirements over time.

At Southern Maryland Orthodontic Studio, his focus is the full range of orthodontic care, including metal braces, clear ceramic braces, clear aligners, and more.
Beyond the Office
Kentucky Native, Travel Enthusiast
Dr. Hagan grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. As a University of Kentucky alumnus, he remains a fierce supporter of Wildcats sports, especially basketball.
In his free time, Dr. Hagan enjoys traveling the world, playing pickleball, and spending time with his dog, Max.
